A couple hours before club was to begin last night, the dark clouds were looming in the sky. Soon after, the wind began to blow strong and then it began to rain. We hoped it would let up in time for club. Plan B was to meet in the carport if the rain continued. It turned out that the rain didn't last for long and we were thankful that we were able to meet in the backyard after all.
This was the night! The greatly anticipated water day!! All of the kids were looking forward to it! There was excitement all around as the kids got soaking wet playing the water games.
We began with the "Balloon Toss". Don't let your balloons fall to the ground and burst!
Then all the children formed a circle around the "sprayer" and with Josh's cue, the child in front of Amanda would get sprayed! Very similar to musical chairs, maybe even more fun though! Of course, if you got sprayed, that meant points for the other team!
Is it just me, or does Amanda look like she's enjoying herself? : )
Next, it was time to line up and pass water from your cup to the person behind you.
This turned out to be a "free for all" as Jav sprayed the kids and they ganged up on him and poured water on his head! Watch out honey! You're a bit outnumbered!
The little ones had their water fun too! They loved these mini pools.
Aren't they cute?!
Clara made a sweet little friend, she gave her lots of hugs and kisses throughout the evening.
Amera has been doing a great job leading us in song. I appreciated her enthusiasm as she sang and signed the words.
Time for memory verse fun! First, let's get these papers in order. Can you still say it if I take some away?
This little guy is quite the character!
They are doing great and have learned it so well!
Since Manny was a little more needful of attention tonight, I only heard bits and pieces of the lesson. But I did get to watch a really cool sword fight! With real swords! How cool is that?
The devil, played by Stephen, threw out temptation after temptation to Josh. Josh responded with a Bible verse and the clash of his sword.
"There are five dollars on your dad's dresser. Go ahead! Take it!"
"NO! Exodus 20:15. You shall not steal!"
"Your mom told you not to do this, but everyone else is doing it!"
"NO! Ephesians 6:1. Children obey your parents for this is right."
This was an awesome visual for the kids. We all thought it really got through to them.
After the Bible lessons, children have been invited to talk with Amanda or Josh. Several children have responded. Their questions are answered, and they are shown the way of salvation. Some have responded to the call of the gospel and placed their faith in Jesus.
Praise God that salvation is a free gift from our gracious, merciful Father. Even a child can come to him, and believing they can receive it.
{Josh illustrating that salvation is a gift you receive}
