We are so thankful for the simplicity of the gospel. That even a child can understand and come unto Jesus. Yet grown men with all their "wisdom" and philosophy stumble over its message.
At that time Jesus declared, "I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth,
that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and
revealed them to little children..."
"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden
is light." Matthew 11:25,28-30
Last night was chock full of precious moments. I enjoyed Josh's teaching on the belt of truth as we are learning about the armor of God in Ephesians 6:10-11. He asked the children "What can you tell me that is true?" Child after child raised their hands and offered theological insights. One child very matter-of-factly stated "That Jesus died on the cross for our sins and rose from the dead on the third day." Yes, good, that's right! After a few more responses, Josh prompted them for something a little more general. One child offered "That sharks bite people!" That made us chuckle.
"What about 1+1=2, that's true right?"
"What if I said 1+1=3, would that be true?"
"What if I said it over and over again or yelled it at the top of my lungs?"
"What if other people say 1+1=3, does that make it true?"
Of course the answer is no. I praise God for the truth of his Word and that it never changes.
The three-legged race was great! I especially enjoyed Javier's loud, almost drill sergeant-like commands (in the friendliest way possible of course!) My heart was touched to see Brienne making friends with her partner in the race. She had her little arm around him and they were all laughs and smiles. Too cute and very sweet! Look at that father-daughter team go!
Pass the hula hoop, and don't break hands!!
Children rolled the die to see what action they would do while saying the memory verse.
Rub your tummy and pat your head, hop on one foot.
Brienne was enjoying herself!
She decided to join the men and play on a toy guitar!
Manny's attention was drawn to some birds flying overhead. He giggled at them as he pointed up and said "Bird, bird!" "Up, up!" "Touch it, touch it!" My husband and I were standing there together and we had to laugh as we recalled the little game that he was playing with Manny the night before. Manny considers it a very exciting thing to be lifted in the air so that he can touch the ceiling. He just giggles with delight. Well, tonight he thought that his daddy could lift him up high enough to touch the birds! What a precious thing for a little one to think his daddy can do that!
My favorite.
