Dirty Laundry {Writing prompt}

Just knowing how holy and pure our God is...it amazes me that he could endure our sin for a single moment.

He is perfect in love, yet how often he sees that perfect love is not in us.  So often, when we love it's because we hope to get some benefit for ourselves.

People often wonder...if God is a loving God, then why do bad things happen to good people?  And I wonder, why do we think we are good people?  Do we realize how wretched we really are?  His love calls us to come to him and believe in his Son so that we may be healed from our sickness.

Sin affects us all and it comes from within.  From the person who thinks angry, hateful thoughts to the person who acts on those thoughts...we are all guilty of imperfect love.

And it boggles my mind to think of our all-knowing, all-seeing God taking all of this in.

I mean, think about it for a moment.  He knows it all!  Not just your issues and mine, but every single thought, word and deed of every person on the entire planet.  Our perfect God is enduring it all.  And he is grieved.  And he is not just above and looking down upon, but his Spirit is within each and every believer.

And he says "This is the way, walk in it." (Isaiah 30:21)  And whether we listen or not is entirely up to us.

I can't help but think of the Apostle Paul who shared some of his testimony in Galatians chapter one.  How he persecuted the church of God violently and tried to destroy it.  This man who, no doubt, would have said with absolute conviction that he "believed in God", yet "so zealous was he for the tradition of his fathers" that he had many Christians imprisoned and killed for their faith in Christ.

I think of God enduring all of it.  Knowing it, seeing it, being grieved by it.  Yet he loved Paul and amazingly enough had a plan for his life.  Isn't it encouraging?  To think that a man with "dirty laundry" like that could be useful tool in the hands of God to bring many to the knowledge of the truth?

Christ is the only one who doesn't have any "dirty laundry" to air out.  He was perfect in our place.
Have you placed your trust in this beautiful and perfect Savior?

Nothing you've ever done surprises him or could ever turn his perfect love away.

  1. I am amazed at how you can take any topic and turn it into a retrospective moment. What a wonderful reminder you have given me this morning of God's perfect love. It does not matter if I have failed or struggled, His love is the same, perfect and complete.

    Thanks for linking up!
